Dots

Dots

A mainstay of movie theaters and long car trips, Dots has become one of the country’s favorite candies, and with kosher supervision, it’s become a popular buy for Jewish kids everywhere. First arriving on the scene in 1945, the flavor selection of cherry, lime, strawberry, lemon and orange remains the same today. Capturing the bright yellow package and the contrasting shadows — drawn at many times the scale of the original package — took over a week of full-time execution. The creases and highlights on the pack help emphasize the hyperrealism, while still maintaining a painterly texture that reminds you it is still a drawing. Without mimicking the look of a photo, the work still appears soundly 3-dimensional on the page.

Prints

Printed from the highest resolution scans, all prints are museum quality, using the Giclee fine art process on Epson Legacy cold press (19ml), a bright white, lightly textured, acid-free, archival paper.

“Colored pencils have traditionally gotten a raw deal. Today, however, the vast range of available pencil colors, the vibrance of each pigment and ease of color blending has taken them out of the kindergarten and into the fine art world.”
