Description
While Jelly Beans have been around since 1905, it wasn’t until 1976 that the “Jelly Belly,” made with natural flavorings such as Very Cherry Lemon, Cream Soda, Green Apple and Root Beer were introduced by David Klein. Named as a tribute to legendary blues singer, Lead Belly, the candies became a favorite of Ronald Reagan and the company supplied him with the product for the full eight years of his Presidency. They were also the first jelly beans in space, taking a journey on the space shuttle Challenger in 1983. Today, Jelly Belly is available in many unusual flavors, such as “Draft Beer,” “Snapple Mix,” “Birthday Cake Remix,” and “Pancake and Maple Syrup.”
