Lollipop

Lollipop

This multicolored Lollipop, by the “Happiness” company, will put a smile on your face and brighten up any living room. Drawing wrapped cellophane always presents a challenge however, especially when there is something lurking underneath it. But more than the difficulty of dealing with the transparent folds and reflective highlights, there was one more aspect that proved particularly tricky: the backwards lettering you can see through the cover. Drawing regular lettering has the distinct advantage that we instinctively know the shape and form of each letter and can almost draw them blindfold. When letters are backwards, they become merely unrecognizable shapes and are far more difficult to render convincingly.

Prints

Printed from the highest resolution scans, all prints are museum quality, using the Giclee fine art process on Epson Legacy cold press (19ml), a bright white, lightly textured, acid-free, archival paper.

“Colored pencils have traditionally gotten a raw deal. Today, however, the vast range of available pencil colors, the vibrance of each pigment and ease of color blending has taken them out of the kindergarten and into the fine art world.”
